History
In 1974, Dr. Davis Clark brought Dr. Preston Clark to Concord to create Concord Orthopaedic Professional Association. As more and more patients of the greater Concord community came to depend on the quality service and unparalleled orthopaedic care, Concord Orthopaedics grew.
The practice hired more specialty orthopaedic physicians, rheumatologists , and Physiatrists creating a group of highly skilled and talented physicians who specialize in specific areas of orthopaedics. Each physician concentrates in his or her area of expertise, developing skills and experience that would not otherwise be possible. As time went by, there was an effort to recruit more than one physician in most specialties, allowing the physicians to seek the opinions of additional experts within the practice.
In 1995, the existing space in Concord, New Hampshire increased from 10,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet. The new space included an ambulatory ("day") Orthopaedic Surgery Center providing surgical and spinal injection procedures.
For over 20 years, Concord Orthopaedics has served the New London community with orthopaedic care initially on the campus of New London Hospital. In 2020, Concord Orthopaedics moved to it's own space at 247 Newport Road.
In 2003, Concord Orthopaedics opened an office in Derry, New Hampshire. In January 2012, a second Orthopaedic Surgery Center was opened in Derry.
In 2008, the total joint surgery team at Concord Orthopaedics introduced the Anterior Hip replacement, a minimally invasive surgical technique that benefits the patient with a faster recovery, less hospitalization time, less pain and decreased post-operative physical therapy leading to a faster return to normal activities.
2021 was a big year of expansion for Concord Orthopaedics. Not only did the practice open a brand new, state-of-the-art Orthopaedic Surgery Center to replace to original OSC, but also opened satellite offices in Plymouth, a joint venture between COPA and Speare Memorial Hospital, and in Laconia, in association with Concord Hospital Laconia. Also in 2021, COPA opened its seventh location in Raymond, NH.
